		Access the service screens. To access the service screens of the new touchscreen Observer™ communicating wall control press and hold the “Fan” button for 10 seconds. This is your “hidden” doorway. Homeowners won't find it in their owners' manuals. But you will discover that it gives you access to hundreds of setup and service-related variables, functions and options. Return to top.

		View a summary of the installation. Press the "Equipment" button on the first Installer Configuration Menu to see a summary of the equipment installed in the system. ►With communicating equipment, the Observer communicating wall control will collect this information automatically. ►With non-communicating equipment (accessory conversion board required if not installed with Tempstar^® communicating equipment), the Observer communicating wall control will ask the installer to specify the equipment connected to it. 		Selecting/Changing the brand. After the inital power up of the Observer communicating wall control identifies all the equipment components in the system, you will be prompted to select the appropriate brand. After you select the brand, or NO LOGO, you will have the opportunity to confirm the choice. After confirming the choice, the only way to reset the logo is to reset to factory defaults.The homeowner cannot just change or delete the brand logo without knowing how to access the service screens.

		Auto mode on/off. When Auto Mode is enabled (factory default), a change from heat to cool (or vice versa) will not occur until the current cycle is satisfied and an opposite mode demand has existed for 30 minutes (default). The Auto Changeover Time may be adjusted in 5 minute increments from 5 to 30 minutes. Dealers have the option of turning off Auto Mode.

		Setup of Room Temperature Sensors. Remote sensors are available as an accessory. Dealers can set up remote sensors in one or more rooms. The Observer communicating wall control can be programmed to operate based on the indoor temperature as read by either: 1. only the sensor built into the Observer communicating wall control, 2. only the remote sensor(s), or 3. an average of the built-in and remote sensors.

		Override equipment settings. The setup menu has several layers, allowing modification of equipment settings. With communicating equipment, no settings need to be made at the equipment (i.e., DIP switches on a furnace). All configuration settings made effective from this menu will override equipment configuration made by DIP switches.

		Dual fuel operation. The Observer communicating wall control does not have a single 'balance point' setting for use with a dual fuel system to determine when to switch the heating source from the electric heat pump to the alternate fuel source. Instead, the installer can use the Heat Pump Lockout and Auxiliary Heat Lockout (in this case 'aux' refers to gas, not strip heat) features to create a virtual balance point or 'window' where the system changes from heat pump to gas. Within that window, the Observer communicating wall control is equipped to determine when to utilize the heat pump or gas heat.

		Make changes with the Observer communicating wall control. Upon initial startup discovery of the Observer communicating wall control, DIP switch settings will be copied from communicating equipment into the setup menu. Any changes can then be made from the Observer communicating wall control.

		Show the status of all equipment. Status screens within the Installer Configuration Menus show all of the current operating parameters of each installed piece of equipment. The INSTALL / SERVICE menu will automatically exit after 60 minutes of no activity.

		Display your contact information. The Observer communicating wall control's service screens allow you to enter a service person’s name and phone number using a virtual keyboard. You determine how the information appears under various circumstances on the thermostat. The dealer contact information will appear when the user selects 'Dealer Info' after service or maintenance reminders are displayed on the screen.

		Alert the homeowner to call you. The Observer communicating wall control alerts the homeowner to call YOU whenever it senses a problem or when it’s time for routine maintenance.
